Queen Contestants:

February 19, 2008

Dear Cowgirls,

I will be hosting a Rodeo Queen clinic at my home on March 22 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. I realize it is Easter weekend but it the only open date. I feel this is a very important clinic and our only opportunity before the contests. We will have a contest at the Caroline rodeo April 26 & 27 and the State contest May 29 & 31. More details to follow later.

At the clinic, we will work on all aspects of the contest; introductions, speech, modeling interviews, impromptu, written test and horsemanship. In case of inclement weather we will forgo the horsemanship.

Your assignments are to send me, before March 1, a statement of intent that you are planning to run for VHSRA Queen. Also by March 10 you will need to have read and studied the entire NHSRA rulebook and made a test from it. The test should follow the format of the tests given at the state and national contests; 50 questions - 17 multiple choice, 17 true/false and 16 fill in the blank. Knowing the rulebook is one of the most important aspects of being Queen. Not only do the test questions come from the rulebook but many interview questions and possibly the impromptu question. Making your own test will force you to study the book. Write the test, along with the answers and send to me by March 10. Also let me know by March 1 if you plan to attend the clinic and compete in the first contest April 26 & 27. This is a commitment that should not be taken lightly and you should be willing to work hard for.

I look forward to working with you all. I know you'll have many questions so do not hesitate to ask.

Come prepared with your speech and any clothes that you want me to look at, as well as smooth sole boots you'll be wearing. Also be legging up your horses as my arena is sand and tends to wear horses out quickly if they are not used to it.

My email address is cowman572000@yahoo.com. Phone numbers are HOME 540-980-5675 and CELL 540-616-7938.

Love ya,
Miss Sally
